Senhora da Graça will feature a double ascent for the first time in the history of the Volta a Portugal.
The organizers of the Volta a Portugal will officially unveil the route of the 87th edition of the race on Wednesday, July 8, during an event starting at 8:30 p.m. at the iconic Alto da Senhora da Graça in Mondim de Basto.
Ahead of the official presentation, the organizers have already revealed one of the biggest innovations of the 2026 edition: for the first time in the history of the Volta a Portugal, the Alto da Senhora da Graça will be climbed twice in the same stage, on the penultimate day of the race.
One of the most iconic climbs in Portuguese cycling will therefore provide the setting for an unprecedented moment in the history of the race, in a sporting innovation designed to make the competition even more spectacular. Full details will be unveiled during Wednesday’s official presentation.
How this double ascent will unfold, which routes have been selected, and what impact this innovation will have on the design of the stage are just some of the questions that will be answered during the official presentation of the 2026 Volta a Portugal.
The event will bring together institutional representatives, sponsors, host municipalities, teams, partners, and leading figures from Portuguese cycling, marking the official launch of the 87th edition of the race. The presentation will also be broadcast live on RTP Play from 8:30 p.m.
