A Grandíssima: experience the Volta a Portugal from the inside

The Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta will take on a new dimension in 2026 with the launch of A Grandíssima, the race’s official Granfondo, which will allow hundreds of amateur cyclists to experience, for one day, the thrill, atmosphere and mystique of the country’s biggest cycling competition.

The first edition of A Grandíssima takes place on August 11, coinciding with the Volta a Portugal’s Rest Day, and will be centred at Europarque, in Santa Maria da Feira, which will also host all the teams and structures of the professional race during that day.

With the start and finish in Santa Maria da Feira, participants will have the chance to ride some of the most beautiful roads in the Aveiro district, on a route designed to deliver a memorable experience, inspired by the spirit of the Volta a Portugal and open to all cycling enthusiasts.

More than a race, A Grandíssima aims to be a true celebration of cycling, bringing fans closer to the reality experienced by professional riders. For one day, participants will be able to feel the Volta’s unique atmosphere, sharing the same stage that, in the hours that follow, will serve as the base for the country’s leading cycling competition.

The choice of Santa Maria da Feira to host this debut is no coincidence. The municipality will be one of the major protagonists of the Volta a Portugal 2026, hosting the race’s Rest Day on August 11 and the start of Stage 6 the following day, becoming the heart of the race for two consecutive days.

With the launch of A Grandíssima, the Volta a Portugal strengthens its connection with the cycling community, creating a new opportunity for everyone to be part of the race’s history and enjoy a truly unforgettable experience on two wheels.

Registration and all route information will be announced soon.
