RTP to deliver more than 70 hours of live coverage of the Volta a Portugal<\/strong><\/p>

The 87th Volta a Portugal Jogos Santa Casa will once again benefit from extensive coverage by RTP, which will deliver more than 70 hours of live broadcasting throughout the 11 days of the race, through the return of the H\u00e1 Volta programme and live stage coverage on RTP1.<\/p>

After a three-year absence, H\u00e1 Volta returns to the public broadcaster’s schedule and will be broadcast live on RTP1 from the Volta’s start locations, following the preparations for each stage and bringing viewers closer to the behind-the-scenes action of the race. The programme will be presented by Jorge Gabriel, with reports by Tiago Goes Ferreira and In\u00eas Carranca, who will closely follow the atmosphere at each start and the protagonists of the race.<\/p>

On most days, H\u00e1 Volta will be broadcast between 10:00 and 13:00, with some schedule adjustments depending on the characteristics of certain stages and the programming of the public broadcaster itself. During the three-hour broadcast, there will be interviews, guests, feature reports, stories from the Volta and presentations of the main points of interest of the host municipalities, while also showcasing the heritage, culture, gastronomy and identity of the regions hosting the race.<\/p>

The production of H\u00e1 Volta will involve more than 60 professionals every day, including presenters, journalists, reporters, technicians and production teams, ensuring a close-to-the-action broadcast that follows the pulse of the race from the early hours of the day.<\/p>

Every stage live from 15:00<\/strong><\/p>

In the afternoon, attention turns to the road, with live coverage of every stage on RTP1, delivered by a large and experienced technical team responsible for bringing viewers every decisive moment of the race each day, with commentary from Marco Chagas and Jo\u00e3o Pedro Mendon\u00e7a.<\/p>

To make this operation possible, RTP will deploy a significant technical setup consisting of six camera motorcycles, one helicopter, one aircraft, three drones, one outside broadcast unit, one signal reception vehicle and one satellite truck (responsible for transmitting the international feed), ensuring comprehensive coverage of the race throughout its almost 1,500-kilometre route.<\/p>

The 2026 edition also presents particularly demanding technical challenges, especially on stages such as Peso da R\u00e9gua and Ger\u00eas, where the complexity of the terrain and communications will require the use of technological solutions never before used in RTP’s broadcasts of the Volta a Portugal, ensuring the continuity and quality of the television signal in the most technically challenging areas.<\/p>

In total, between the H\u00e1 Volta programme and the live stage broadcasts, RTP will deliver more than 70 hours of live broadcasting, reaffirming its commitment to promoting Portugal’s leading cycling race.<\/p>

More than simply covering a sporting competition, RTP will take viewers on a daily journey through the 71 municipalities included in the race route, showcasing the landscapes, culture, heritage and traditions of a country that once again comes together around its greatest cycling race.<\/p>
