As in the world&#8217;s leading stage races, the Volta a Portugal recognises its classification leaders through four official jerseys. \ud83d\udfe1 Jogos Santa Casa Yellow Jersey \u2013 General Classification This is the most coveted jersey of the Volta a Portugal. It identifies the leader of the General Classification, the rider with the lowest accumulated time after each stage. It is the ultimate goal for every contender for the overall victory, and for many cyclists, wearing the Yellow Jersey, even for a single day, is one of the most memorable moments of their career. \ud83d\udd35 Continente Blue Jersey \u2013 Mountains Classification This jersey recognises the King of the Mountains, the rider who earns the most points at the mountain classifications throughout the race. It is the jersey of climbers and specialists in the toughest ascents. \ud83d\udfe0 Galp Orange Jersey \u2013 Points Classification This jersey rewards the most consistent rider in stage finishes and intermediate sprints. It is usually won by sprinters, although versatile riders who consistently score points throughout the race can also claim it. \u26aa Paredes Rota dos M\u00f3veis White Jersey \u2013 Young Rider Classification This jersey recognises the best young rider in the Volta a Portugal based on the General Classification. It follows the same principle as the Yellow Jersey but is reserved for riders who meet the age criteria established in the race regulations. Much More Than a Jersey Wearing a leader&#8217;s jersey represents far more than simply leading a classification. It means earning a place of distinction within the peloton while providing exceptional visibility for both the team and its sponsors. Throughout the Volta a Portugal, wearing a leader&#8217;s jersey means: Greater media exposure; Sporting prestige; Increased visibility for sponsors and partners; Greater responsibility in controlling the race; More pressure from rival teams aiming to take the lead. Can a rider lead more than one classification? Yes. The same rider can lead two or more classifications at the same time. In these situations, the rider wears only one jersey: the highest-priority jersey according to the race regulations. The remaining leader&#8217;s jerseys are then worn by the next highest-ranked rider in the corresponding classification. For example, if the leader of the General Classification also leads the Mountains Classification, they will wear the Yellow Jersey. The Blue Jersey will then be worn by the second-placed rider in the Mountains Classification for that stage.
